Major League

Official Little League rules apply with the following exceptions: 

  1. Regardless of the score, a game mercy rule will not be used.  There will be a 6 run per inning rule, except in the last inning.  Managers are urged to use their best judgment and restraint when scores become lopsided.  

  2. Each player must play a minimum of four innings in the field (12 outs).  If for any reason this requirement is not met, the player must start the next game, except in the case of an injury or illness.  A player may re-enter a game at anytime.  Each player must play at least one inning in the infield.

  3. A continuous batting order will be used.

  4. No more than three additional coaches (4 counting manager) will be allowed on the field during games.    

  5. In the event of a player shortage a team may play a game with 8 players.  A substitute fielder from the opposition should be used in a position decided by the manager who is short a player.  The substitute fielder should be the player who made the last out in the previous inning.  Using a Minors player from the League approved call up list is also an option for the team that is short to field 9 players 

  6. On-deck batters are allowed.  "Only one on-deck batter is allowed. That player must be positioned at the far end of the dugout away from home plate, protected by the dugout fence. 

  7. No dropped third strike.  The batter is out on strike 3 regardless of whether or not the catcher secures the baseball.

  8. There will be no penalty for balks.

  9. Eye black is allowed for pitching

  10. Sunglasses allowed for pitcher if pitching into the sun.

  11. A coach is permitted to warm-up a pitcher between innings.

  12. HOME team (Managers/Coaches) is responsible for lining the field pre-game.  AWAY team is responsible for dragging and raking the field after every game. Teams are also responsible for empty the trash containers in their dugouts after EVERY game. 

  13. Each team will be allowed on field pre-game outfield practice session.

  14. Home team takes BP 60-30 min before game. Visiting Team takes BP 30-Start of game.

  15. No player will play a position for more than 2 innings in a regular season with the exception of the catcher who can play 3 innings. 1 pitch is considered an inning played.

  16. In the playoffs, the following positional restrictions exist: 1) each player must play four innings in the field, 2) each player must play one inning in the infield, 3) pitchers will follow the pitchsmart guidelines outlined below, and 4) pitching/catching in the same game is limited to the guidelines below.

Note:  By following LL rules Majors will be using a pitch count this year and abiding by the days of rest rules set forth by LL.

If a pitcher throws more than 40 pitches he is not eligible to play catcher in that game.

Examples
-Pitcher throws 25 pitches on Sunday:  Monday would be 1 day rest and he is eligible to pitch on Tuesday
-Pitcher starts an at bat with 80 pitches; he is allowed to complete the at bat even if he surpasses the 85 limit.  He throws 86 pitches on Sunday, M-Tu-W-Th are his 4 days rest and he is eligible to pitch again on Friday.
